3 and 4 Months...Man I am behind

Clearly I am not good at this blogging thing, but I figure better late than never.  I really just want to have a way to remember all these times are that already going by so fast.

Henry is now 4 and 1/2 months old.  He is still the best little baby!

Henry, what are you up to these days (will try to capture the last 2.5 months)?

You are now in a size 2 diaper and wear 3-6 month clothes.  You are very long and lean.

You sleep 10-11 hours at night...God love you baby!

Some days you nap perfectly 2-3 times a day.  Some days you take little naps.  I prefer the good nap days!  No matter what though, you have always slept through the night and you always wake up smiling.

You are nursing 5-6 times a day.  You usually go 4 hours between feeds in the morning and afternoon.

You have been sleeping in your crib for about 2 months now.  Such a big boy!

You like to play in your exersaucer now and don't prefer to swing as much as you used to.

You no longer sleep swaddled.  I really thought we were going to have to wean you off it, but one night you just cried when I swaddled you so I took it off and you have been without it ever since.

You are always smiling.  People comment on how happy you are all the time.

You have started laughing now.  At first it was like you wanted to laugh, but couldn't get it out, but now you laugh a little more.

You have eaten rice cereal a few times in your high chair.  You did a great job with it.  You seemed a little gassy over the weekend when we ate it a bunch so I am laying off, but you know I am crazy about you having the oral motor skills to eat off a spoon so I will keep pushing it.

You got in the pool for the first time over the weekend and didn't mind one bit.

You still go the office every day with me.  On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons you go to BeBe and BoBo's house.  They just ADORE you!

You have figured out how to reach for things.  You grab my hair all the time and it hurts.  Putting you in your carseat always makes us laugh because you are so excited to eat the straps.  Now you have a toy on your carseat that you can play with.  The first time I saw you purposefully reach to move one of the parts I just stared at you in amazement.  I can't believe how much you change so quickly.

When I look at you I am so motivated to be a better person...a better mom, a better wife, and a better business owner.  I want everything that matters for you.  I could try all night to put into words how you steal my heart every day, but I never could.  Just know that you are SO LOVED!

2 Months

I cannot believe that 2 months has passed already!!!  Henry is SUCH A GOOD BABY!  Anytime he cries or gets upset (which is usually only when he gets woken up from a nap and can't convince himself to go back to sleep) Mark and I both say "it's just not like him".

So Baby Henry...what are you up to these days?

Today at the Dr. you weighed 11.6 lbs. and measured 24.5 inches.

You sleep for 8 hours at night now!!!  You started doing that around 7 weeks old.  I really credit your great schedule to the book Babywise.  The fact that you are so predictable makes for a happy mama and happy baby!

You nurse 6 times a day usually every 3 hours.  You take a bottle well when you are with your Dad, BeBe, or Stacy.

You smile ALL the time.  You have recently started smiling when we wake you up and that just melts my heart.

You love to kick when you are laying on your back.  Dad and I call it "riding your unicycle".  You kick the most on your changing table.

You still go to the office with me every day.  Sometimes you stay with your Dad in the morning when I have early patients and when I have later patients you will go home early with Dad or go home with BeBe.  I would've have never thought I could be away from you (even for a few hours) a couple of weeks ago, but you are so good that I don't worry about you with your other people.

You usually take 2 baths a week.  You are not in love with them, but you don't mind them either.

You are "talking" a lot.  You have used a few consonants here and there already.  Bless your heart growing up with a mom who is a speech pathologist.

You still take a pacy when you are going to sleep.  I am going to try to wean you from that in the next 1-2 months.

You started getting heat rash for a few days and I figured out that you were too hot so nowadays you can  usually be found in a short sleeve onsie and maybe some socks.

You are still sleeping (swaddled) in the bassinet beside our bed.  I know I will have to move you to your crib at some point, but I am not sure I will be ready.  There is something about having you right beside me that gives me some peace.  Plus it is my favorite time of the day to be in the same room with all the people I love the most...you, your Dad, and Zeke.

You are wearing 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers.

You love to be held upright on people's chests.  You have pretty good head control so you will look around or snuggle under our necks.  I hope I never forget what it feels like to have my cheek on your head.  I probably kiss your head 100 times a day.

I am honestly not sure what I did to deserve a blessing like you in my life.  I could never put into words the love I have for you in my heart.  Everyday I love you more which I wouldn't have thought possible the day before.

1 Month

To blog or not to blog...Stacy would kill me for not doing a baby book, but I just know myself too well and know that I would never keep up with writing all these things and milestones down.  So I decided to start this blog, even if no one but Mark or I ever read it.

Time is already going by way too fast.  Henry was one month old yesterday.  He is changing before our eyes everyday and everyday we fall more in love with this little man.

Labor and deliver were perfect...not that I have anything to compare it to, but I can't complain.  Henry was pretty content staying in my tummy so I was induced at 41 weeks to the day.  Mark and I checked into Williamson Medical Center at 5:30 am and after about 12 hours of pitocin and 35 minutes of pushing we met our beautiful son at 6:58 pm.  He weighed 9 lbs 1 oz and was 22 inches long.  I immediately felt so much love and joy that couldn't be contained.  Very strange and amazing all at the same time.

The first two weeks are somewhat of a blur.  Breastfeeding was probably one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life.  I wanted to give up many times, but am so glad I didn't...now it seems almost funny that it was ever that hard.  I know I cried every time something made me the least bit sad or happy.  I was worried I was going insane, but thankfully Mark and my girlfriends was always there to remind me I wasn't.  Getting a nightly warm bath with lavender candles was such a treat during those two weeks.  Then almost like a switch, the day after Henry was 2 weeks old I was back to my old self and we were on a pretty good routine.

So Henry...what are you up to these days...

You weighed 9 lbs 5 oz at your one week check up.  Not sure how much you weigh right now, but we go back to the dr. on Wednesday so we will find out.

You eat every 3 hours almost on the dot without being woken up during the day (sometimes a little more).  At night you will go for 4-4.5 hours.  You stay awake after every meal for about 45 minutes - 1 hour except for the nighttime feeds.  After those I swaddle you right up and you doze back off.

You are sleeping in a bassinet beside our bed.  It was initially hard for me to sleep through all the little noises you can make, but now I am not so paranoid.

You have been to work with me every day since you were 5 days old.  I consider this one of the biggest blessings of my life to be my own boss and be able to take you to work.  You are such a good baby.  My office now looks like Babies R Us and Stacy and I have to be careful not to trip over all your gear.  Stacy or my mom (your BeBe) will watch you while I am with patients.  Once again another blessing for me to know you are so loved and taken care of while I am working.

You sometimes do what your dad and I call "your trick".  You coo after you sneeze almost like you are cheering for yourself.  You started doing it as soon as we got home.  We love it so much that we don't immediately say bless you because we are waiting for "your trick".

You hated your first real bath.  Of course I wanted to record it.  You screamed the entire time so ever since then I have continued to sponge bathe you on the kitchen counter.  I hope one day you will love bath time.  I know I do!

You hate being cold at all.  Sometimes when we are changing your clothes you will come unglued...especially if I have just washed my hands and they are cold.

You love to swing and watch the mobile over the swing.  For your first two weeks you loved your bouncy seat, but now you would rather swing.

You are just all that I lived for, though I didn't know why.  In the last month you have taught me so much and not just about how to take care of you.  You have taught me how to slow down and be in the moment. Something I definitely struggled with in the past.  It is hard to believe that you are finally here.  I prayed every night for a happy and healthy baby when I was pregnant with you and when I realize how lucky I am I could just cry.  Now I pray that your dad and I are always the definition of unconditional love and that you know how amazing you are EVERY day of your life.
